"Abnormal program termination" error when launching MassLynx 4.1 - WKB16641

SYMPTOMS

• Software newly installed on MassLynx acquisition PC or desktop processing laptop computer
• Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Runtime Error!  Program: C:\Masslynx\mlynx4.exe >> Abnormal program Termination
• Operating system is Windows 10
• MassLynx 4.1 releases (e.g., MassLynx 4.1 SCN 909, SCN 849)

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1
• Windows 10

CAUSE

MassLynx 4.1 is not supported on Windows 10.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Use the latest version of MassLynx for the instrument required or for desktop processing (see article WKB554).
