MassLynx fails when samples are added to the sample list, shows "Runtime Error" and "abnormal program termination" errors - WKB15666

SYMPTOMS

• MassLynx fails when samples are added to the sample list via right-click and add or insert sample or via the Autosampler bed layout - add samples
• Sometimes an error message appears; "MLynxSLE - An unsupported operation was attempted" or "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error! Program: C:\MassLynx\mlynx4.exe. abnormal program termination."

CAUSE

Corrupted sample list format file (.fmt)

FIX or WORKAROUND

Make a new format (.fmt) file. On the sample list page go to Samples > Format > 'Save..' or 'Customize', and save or remake a new format file. 

If unable to open Masslynx open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder containing the corrupt .fmt file and delete the file.
