SYMPTOMS

• When starting a program (e.g., PDA Diagnostics), the following System Error appears:
  
  The program can’t start because mfc100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
  
  

ENVIRONMENT

• Windows
• MassLynx
• Visual C++

CAUSE

A DLL file is missing from the computer. (Perhaps a failure on installation, file corruption, or a lack of or incorrectly installed prerequisite software) 

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) from the Microsoft website.

2. For MassLynx 4.1, use the option for 32-bit operating systems:
   http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

3. For 64-bit programs, use the following link:
   https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

NOTE: Always follow local SOPs when modifying PC settings.
