TargetLynx User Factors not applied to some compounds - WKB11944
SYMPTOMS
- User Factors are specified in the MassLynx sample list; in the TargetLynx results, the factors are being applied to some compounds but not others
ENVIRONMENT
MassLynx 4.1
MassLynx 4.2
TargetLynx
QuanLynx
CAUSE
In the TargetLynx method, the affected compounds were set to use a different compound as the calibration reference, and therefore the remaining calibration parameters were hidden. The calibration parameter "Concentration of Standard: Level" was set to "Fixed" for the affected compounds. This parameter was still active, despite being hidden. As a result, the User Factors were ignored.
TargetLynx and QuanLynx will not apply the User Factor or User Divisor to a compound where "Concentration of Standard: Level" is set to "Fixed".
FIX or WORKAROUND
There are workarounds for the two different situations.
1) When Calibration Reference Compound is set to something other than the current compound:
- Open the method editor and click on the Calibration Properties tab.
- From the Calibration Reference Compound drop-down list, select the name of the current compound.
- Change "Concentration of Standard: Level" from Fixed to Conc A.
- From the Calibration Reference Compound drop-down list, select the name of the reference compound again.
2) When "Concentration of Standard: Level" is set to Fixed:
- Set "Concentration of Standard: Level" to a concentration column: Conc A to Conc T.
- Add the concentration column to the sample list.
- Populate the Conc column with the appropriate concentration value for the Internal Standards (extracted or non-extracted), Surrogates or similar.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Note that User Factors are not applied to Internal Standard Compounds, which have fixed concentrations.
Also, User Factors are not applied to any of the compounds in external standard samples, which also have fixed concentrations.
