MassLynx installation process stops with error code 1721 - WKB113155

SYMPTOMS

• MassLynx installation process stops, and a 1721 installer error message appears

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.2 installer
• MassLynx prerequisite installers
• Windows 10

CAUSE

The 1721 error is a generic installer error from the Windows operating system. It gives no indication as to the actual cause of the problem. It might be MassLynx itself, or it might be one of the prerequisite installers (Java, Java 3d, Microsoft Visual C++).

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Search the Microsoft support website for possible solutions to the Windows installer error.
2. Using solutions from Microsoft support, try installing each of the prerequisites individually from the Prerequisites folder on the installation media, to rule those out as a source of the problem.
3. When the prerequisites are successfully installed, try rerunning the MassLynx installer.
