Inlet injects, but MS does not start. Error: Failed to start Mass Spectrometer acquisition and Waiting for Inject Start status - WKB11009

SYMPTOMS

• Sample list analysis - inlet injects sample, but system does not start MS acquisition.
• Inlet Method Error message:
  Failed to start Mass Spectrometer acquisition. Please ensure that the autosampler is correctly configured for contact start.
  
• MassLynx says "Waiting for inject start".
• Acquisition from Tune page starts correctly.

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx
• LC/MS
• Symantec 12.1.6

CAUSE

Antivirus software not configured correctly - Network Threat Protection stopping the MS comms.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Turn off Network Threat Protection.
2. Configure antivirus to exclude all MassLynx processes and communications.
