Error "Failed to run Analytical Component Engine", loss of communications, and unusual behavior in MassLynx LCMS system - WKB108288

SYMPTOMS

• Error message: "Failed to run Analytical Component Engine"
• Sudden loss of communication
• Erratic behavior—sometimes the LC stack is there, sometimes not; some modules come and go after PC restart

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx
• ACQUITY UPLC
• Xevo TQ-S
• ACQUITY UPC² System

CAUSE

McAfee antivirus settings are affecting the User account (not Administrator account) and how the software is working. User account does not have the correct permissions.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Use supported antivirus software and give the user account permissions to access, read, write, and modify all files, folders, and processes associated with MassLynx.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Any other AV software can cause this error when not having the right permissions.
