How to use the QuickStart Interface - Tip1

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Use the Empower QuickStart Interface. (The interfaceis great for new or infrequent users of Empower.)

PROCEDURE

1. When you log in to Empower, you select a project to work in and a chromatographic system (HPLC or GC) to use for data acquisition.

The interface opens and on the left-hand side you see the navigation bar, which guides you through the software.

2. When you make a selection in the navigation bar, the work area, tools, and menus change accordingly. Run Samples and the Sample Queue are highlighted in the navigation bar by default. This is the data acquisition area of the software and it is here that you can queue up and run samples.

3. If you click Browse Project in the navigation bar you can see the contents of the project, which is divided into tabs, such as sample sets, results, and methods.

4. Empower’s View Data button functions in two ways. If you highlight a channel of raw data and click View Data, it brings you to the Review Data Main Window, where you can view the unintegrated chromatogram.

5. On the other hand, if you highlight a result and click View Data, it brings you to the Preview Data window, where you can preview the result with a report method.

6. In the View Method section of the navigation bar, if you click, for example, "Instrument", Empower reads the configuration of your chromatographic system and displays icons for the components of the system. You can then set the instrument control and data acquisition parameters for your system, which are then saved in an Instrument Method.

7. The last selection is View Acquisition. This allows you to toggle the live acquisition screen on and off if you are collecting data while performing other tasks in Empower.
