System Audit Trail System Policies

PROCEDURE

System Audit Trail System Policies affect the creation, modification, and deletion of system objects such as Projects, Systems, and Users as well as the resulting entries which are made in the System Audit Trail. Note that you need the Alter System Policies privilege to make any changes to System Policies.

STEP 1
In the Configuration Manager window, select System Policies from the View menu and click on the System Audit Trail tab (figure 1).

STEP 2
Scroll down to see the full list of System objects (figure 2).

STEP 3
The choices for comments are as follows (figure 3).

  • Silent – no comment needed
  • Unrestricted – enter text
  • Restricted – pick from a list of pre-defined comments called Default Strings (refer to Tip #380 on creating Default Strings)

NOTE: If Confirm Identity is selected, the User will have to enter their Empower password after the action is performed.

STEP 4
In this example, the User enables the System Suitability option in an existing project (figure 4).

STEP 5
Since the Comment is set to Restricted and Confirm Identity is selected, the User selects a comment from the list and enters their password (figure 5).

STEP 6
In the System Audit Trail, we see that the change was made to the Project and the reason why (figure 6).
