SYMPTOMS

  • Empower LACE/32 recover.log error "Unable to write remote file"
  • Data starts buffering for no apparent reason

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3

CAUSE

Some ports are being blocked by the firewall

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. To avoid communication problems while using Empower 3, Waters Service and the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) Port (135) must be added to the Windows Firewall exceptions list. In order to add these items to the exceptions list, you must add them to Inbound Rules
  2. Consult your Empower installation guide for specific security settings on the version you are using. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. Rejoin the Empower domain.
  2. Reboot the LACE/32.
  3. Make a blank injection to upload the buffered data, or wait 10 minutes for the next recovery sweep.
