Why is my ACQUITY TUV/PDA Detector control panel and real time plot grayed out in Empower 3? - WKB8778

SYMPTOMS
- Control panel and real time plot are grayed out in Empower 3
- Communication errors in the ACQUITY Console
- Status in node properties is "No"
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower 3 FR3
- ACQUITY UPLC
- ACQUITY UPLC PDA Detector
- ACQUITY UPLC Tunable UV Detector
CAUSE
Instsrv.dat file is corrupted (Chromatographic Systems container file)
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Note the name of the systems and take them offline.
- Delete the systems for all users.
- Go to C:\Empower\InstrumentServer and delete the INSTSRV.DAT file.
- Power off the instrument stack and restart the computer.
- Allow the computer to fully power on and then power on the instrument stack.
- Ensure communication by pinging the instruments, checking DHCP, the node properties instrument tab.
- Recreate the systems with the same names they had before.
- The control boxes for the instrument modules should be populated with realtime readbacks and have functionality.
