Agilent PreConfiguration utility crashes for LC and GC - WKB87276

SYMPTOMS

• When trying to connect to the Agilent PreConfiguration utility using IP address/hostname, the Pre-Configuration utility crashes after selecting the "connect" button

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework v3.0
• Agilent LC 1260 Infinity System
• Agilent 7890 GC

CAUSE

Incomplete installation—Missing Agilent support LC Drivers, GC/HS Drivers, and Agilent instrument control framework.

In an incorrect installation, the files from these component installations are likely in C:\Program Files (x86)\Agilent Technologies.

In a correct installation, the files from these component installations are in C:\Empower\Instruments\AgilentLC.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Completely uninstall the driver from the computer, and then install the driver again.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In other instances, the Agilent PreConfiguration utility also crashes when trying "local host" as a host name directly on the PC with the Agilent instrument. Trying to connect to the host can trigger "Failed to connect to localhost" error message.
