Unable to copy a sample set from one Empower project to another while keeping the existing methods in the destination project - WKB86596

SYMPTOMS

• Cannot copy a sample set from one Empower project to another
• User only wants to copy the data and keep the existing methods in the destination project
• When copying over the sample set, "Version(s) of Method Set method [method set name] from a different origin already exist. They need to be deleted first in order for pasting to continue" error occurs
• When choosing to delete the method, a copying error occurs; in the message center, it states that the method is referenced by another object

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 

CAUSE

The sample set that is trying to be copied contains methods with the same names as methods already in the destination project. When copying over the sample set, the methods used to run the sample set will follow.  

There is no way to copy only the sample set and keep the other existing methods in the destination project. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Adjust methods in the original project to match the methods in the destination project.

OR

Create a new project and copy the sample set first, followed by the methods.

OR

Copy Channels into the destination Project , then create a Process Only Sampleset . 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Depending on method versions, creating a new project and copying the methods into it may not work.
