SYMPTOMS

  • Empower sample sets stop in the middle of acquisition and freeze.
  • On one acquisition client, two systems are running, each with a PDA, and one fail. 
  • Previously collecting 3D scans at 10 points/second and data rate was changed to 2 points/second.
  • No errors in the message center.
  • No evidence of buffering in the recover log.
  • There is enough free tablespace.
  • No errors in the recover log.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3 FR2
  • Enterprise
  • 2998 Photodiode Array Detector (PDA)

CAUSE

The virtual memory on the acquisition client was not set to 4x the RAM per the installation guide.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Adjust the virtual memory to 4x the RAM on the acquisition client per the installation guide.
  2. Restart the client.
