Waters Database Manager fails with error ORA-27369 and exit code "Incorrect function" - WKB77822

SYMPTOMS

• Waters Database Manager cannot change new backup settings in Manage Backup Settings for the "Parallelism" and "Control file location" parameters
• Waters Database Manager save fails with error: ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: Incorrect function

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Feature Release 3 and higher
• Waters Database Manager 
• RMAN backup and recovery solution

CAUSE

Because of the authentication services setting in SQLnet.ora, Waters Database Manager could not log in to RMAN and process input data.

WDM uses MS Windows native operating system authentication for login.  SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES must be set to NTS.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Locate the SQLnet.ora in %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin directory and, "As Administrator", open the file in Notepad.
2. Check the record SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES.
3. When SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES is set to NONE, change the record on NTS.
4. Correct setting example: SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
