Empower server name does not appear in the Empower login window - WKB75631

SYMPTOMS

• The server name does not appear in the Empower login window.
• TNSnames.ora file is there and does have the server name listed.
• Cannot log into Empower.
• DCOM settings look fine.
• User permissions look fine.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3
• Empower 2
• Empower 3 Personal
• Empower 3 Workgroup
• Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

Unknown.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Manually type in the new alias from the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
2. After a successful login, the WATNAMES.ORA file is updated with the new alias and the login drop-down menu should have the new alias listed from that point on.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

WATNAMES.ORA file is in the \empower\script folder.

TNSNAMES.ORA file is in Empower\oracle\oracleclient\network\admin folder
