Instrument server running Empower 3 FR 2 and Agilent ICF 2.0 crashes while running a sample set - WKB75346

SYMPTOMS

• An Empower instrument server running Empower 3 Release 2 and Agilent Instrument Control Framework crashes while running a sample set

• The following actions precede the crash:

  • The Baseline monitor from Run Samples / QuickStart is started.

  • A sample set method is selected that includes:

     

    • Either an Equilibrate or Condition Column function as the first line

       

    • An injection as the second line

       

    • Additional lines (optional)

       

A sample set run is initiated. Approximately 15 seconds after completion of the injection in the second line of the sample set, an instrument server crash occurs. If Run Samples or QuickStart is open, the message “Connection to Chromatography System lost” appears. Any run in progress on systems connected to this node also terminate.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Feature Release 2 (FR2)
• Agilent ICF Support Version 3.0 with A02.04 or A02.05 drivers
• Agilent Infinity II Systems with two detectors connected

CAUSE

Known issue with this configuration. See Waters Support Library Article 56611.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1.     Remove one of the detectors.

2.     Make a single injection after the Baseline Monitor/Condition Column step.
