With Empower 3, how to move project data to a new drive - WKB74645

Article number: 74645

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Move project data from one drive to another, and then access the data from the new drive.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3 Personal
  • Empower 3 Enterprise

PROCEDURE

  1. Create an Empower\projects directory on the D drive.
  2. Go to Configure System > View > Manage Raw Data Paths and change the default path from C:\empower\projects to D:\Empower\projects.
  3. Test the path to make sure it's valid.
  4. Copy the entire C:\Empower\Projects folder to D:\Empower\Projects. (Easier to do it this way than with step 5.)
  5. Highlight all the projects, right-click, and select Move Project Data.
  6. Enter the new location but do not copy the raw data (that was already done in step 4).
  7. Rename the old directory on C.
  8. Open a project and view data. If you obtain the chromatogram, the move was successful.
  9. Delete the old data from Drive C.
