ANSWER

"Move Project Data" provides the capability to move Empower data from one raw data share to another and update the Empower database appropriately. There are three primary scenarios in which this function is used.

1. The existing Empower raw data was moved to a new raw data share by tools external to Empower. In this case, the Empower administrator selects "Move Project Data" without the "Copy raw data to new path" or "Delete raw data from original path" options to update the database to point Empower projects to the new raw data share. No raw data is moved by Empower.

2. The Empower raw data is being copied to a new raw data share using the "Move Project Data" function in Empower. The Empower administrator selects "Move Project Data" with the "Copy raw data to new path" option but does not select the "Delete raw data from original path" option. In this case, Empower copies existing raw data to the new raw data share and updates the database to point to the new raw data share, but does not delete data from the origin.

3. The Empower raw data is being moved to a new raw data share using the "Move Project Data" function in Empower. The Empower administrator selects "Move Project Data" with the "Copy raw data to new path" option and selects the "Delete raw data from original path" option. In this case, Empower copies existing raw data to the new raw data share, updates the database to point to the new raw data share, and deletes data from the origin when the copy is complete.
