  • When switching between instrument panels in the Instrument Method Editor, the error message "Attempted an unsupported operation" appears

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3 FR4 SR3
  • Windows Server 2016 Datacenter with Windows 10 Experience (running as an AWS Workspace)

CAUSE

This issue occurs when there are two modules in the instrument method and the second module is a natively controlled instrument in Empower (e.g., 2695, 414, PCM).  

FIX or WORKAROUND

When the natively controlled instrument is first, and the second instrument is using an added ICS (e.g., 2998), no error is observed.

Corrected in Empower version 3.6.0 :
INFEMP-6973 (CRI-822)
Previously, if an instrument in your instrument method was controlled using an embedded
instrument driver, such as Alliance instruments, when you edited the instrument method, an
Attempted an unsupported operation error displayed.
Now, you can edit the instrument method and no error displays.
