SYMPTOMS

• ACQUITY QDa instrument failure when trying to set up a method in Empower
• Resetting the QDa via the console doesn't help
• The QDa control panel in the Empower Run Samples window is green
• The only error in the Empower message center is "ACQUITY QDa Instrument Failure"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3
• ACQUITY QDa Mass Detector

CAUSE

Unknown

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close Empower.
2. Reboot the QDa. Wait for it to completely initialize.
3. Open Empower.
4. Open Run Samples.
5. Verify that the QDa is ready in the control panel.
6. Set up the method.
