Sample set altered via the Review window will process against the previous sample set ID if the Update button is not pressed - WKB66093

Article number: 66093

SYMPTOMS

  • No results created for sample set
  • Current sample set ID (SSID) is not linked to result sets
  • Results related to the sample set are linked to sample sets that are linked to the previous SSID
  • Current SSID audit trail contains entries from when sample set custom field (SSCF) was changed
  • When viewing he results set tab, the SSID is older than the current SSID

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Review window
  • Project window

CAUSE

  1. Altering SSCF generates a new SSID and a new audit trail. This is expected behavior.
  2. Altering SSCF via the sample set tab in the project automatically updates the SSID to the new ID when returned to the sample set tab.
  3. Altering SSCF via review requires pressing the update button on the sample set tab; otherwise, the previous SSID is listed

Steps to reproduce:

  • Open the sample set in Review.
  • Amend the processing method and specify SSCF information via Alter Sample from review.
  • Return to the sample set tab of the project window.
  • Process the sample set (the update button was not pressed).
  • Result sets are processed from the older SSID, not the current SSID.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Avoid using Alter Sample from the Review window.
  2. If using Alter Sample from the Review window, be sure to click the update button before processing the sample set.
  3. Where possible, use Alter Sample via the project window. (When changes are made, you are prompted to save. This automatically updates the SSID when returned to the sample set tab.)
