How to Collect the Agilent ICF logs and Lab Advisor diagnostic buffer Logs - WKB65971

Article number: 65971

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Capture all of the available diagnostic data and logs immediately after you encounter an instrument error.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Agilent Instrument Control Framework
  • ICF 3.0 and above

PROCEDURE

The Agilent diagnostic buffers and logs can be captured in a couple of ways.

NOTE: You must collect the log before restarting the LAC/E or acquisition client to help investigate the root cause.

IMPORTANT - Collect the logs immediately after the incident and before rebooting the PC and the instrument modules.

  1. Use Agilent LabAdvisor - https://www.agilent.com/en/products/software-informatics/chromatography-data-systems/lab-advisor-software
  2. Run the AgilentLogfileCollecter.exe - C:\Empower\Instruments\AgilentLC\Support\Agilent.DriverLogFileCollector.exe

Additionally, in the Run Samples window there is usually a tab for diagnostic logs; print or copy to Notepad and save.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

IMPORTANT - The diagnostic logs are immediately overwritten when the instrument modules are rebooted. If the logs are not captured, they will be lost, greatly reducing the chances of identifying the root cause of the instrument error. The files will be zipped up and may go to the documents folder in Windows.
