Instrument failure and method setup error with Agilent GC - WKB64931

SYMPTOMS

• Agilent GC shows an instrument failure error when trying to load a method in Empower
• In the message center appears "Could not get control of Agilent 7890B, already controlled by PGCMS"
• The Agilent GC was previously used with a MS detector

ENVIRONMENT

• Agilent GC
• Empower

CAUSE

The MS detector was not removed before using the Agilent GC with a FID detector

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Remove the MS system from the Agilent GC configuration.
2. Exit from ChemStation.
