Error: ORA-01400, Cannot insert NULL in Empower message center - WKB3997

SYMPTOMS

• "ORA-01400, Cannot insert NULL into :W_002LC013_2016_000f Inj2sset vial_ID" message appears every 10 minutes in the Empower message center
• Audit Trail records show no obvious reasons

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Service Release 2 Hotfix 2
• Enterprise without Citrix

CAUSE

The SampleSet.dat file fails to recover as a result of a NULL in the Injection ID and/or Vial ID.

It is believed intermittent network issues can result in such a case.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Look in C:\Empower folder\instrumentserver\systemname\Database name\projectname.
2. Look for SampSet.dat and xxxx.dat files that are unreadable and cannot be uploaded to server.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Embedded license customers should raise a Compass case and escalate to GSS.

Customers running their own Oracle license should contact Waters Professional Services who may be able to assist further to identify where the issue lies and if it can be repaired.
