How to create a custom field in Empower to show amount as a percentage of the sample weight - WKB3841

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Create a custom field that will take the amount of an unknown sample and display it as a percentage of the sample weight.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Empower 2

PROCEDURE

  1. Close any project or Run Samples window that is using the project in which this field will reside.
  2. Open Configure System from the main Empower window.
  3. Find the project, highlight it, right-click on it, and choose Properties.
  4. In the new window, click the Custom Fields tab.
  5. Click "New" at the bottom of the window.
  6. Set the Field Type as "Peak".
  7. Set the Data Type as "Real".
  8. Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
  9. Leave Data Source as "Calculated".
  10. Set Search Order to "Result Set Only".
  11. Set Sample Type to "Unknowns Only".
  12. Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
  13. In the bottom-left portion of the window, scroll until you find "Amount", and then double-click it.
  14. In the bottom-right portion of the window, double-click the "*" symbol.
  15. Specify "100" by typing it on the keyboard.
  16. Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
  17. Set the Width and Precision accordingly.
  18. Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
  19. Enter a name for this field. (This will be the name of the column that is displayed in the report and in the Empower Peaks table within Review.)
  20. Process any data that will need this value displayed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This article explains how to create the custom field, but bear in mind that you must be using a Sample Weight in the Sample Set for the unknown samples.
