How to create a custom field in Empower to show amount as a percentage of the sample weight - WKB3841

OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Create a custom field that will take the amount of an unknown sample and display it as a percentage of the sample weight.
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower
- Empower 2
- Empower 3
PROCEDURE
- Close any project or Run Samples window that is using the project in which this field will reside.
- Open Configure System from the main Empower window.
- Find the project, highlight it, right-click on it, and choose Properties.
- In the new window, click the Custom Fields tab.
- Click "New" at the bottom of the window.
- Set the Field Type as "Peak".
- Set the Data Type as "Real".
- Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
- Leave Data Source as "Calculated".
- Set Search Order to "Result Set Only".
- Set Sample Type to "Unknowns Only".
- Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
- In the bottom-left portion of the window, scroll until you find "Amount", and then double-click it.
- In the bottom-right portion of the window, double-click the "*" symbol.
- Specify "100" by typing it on the keyboard.
- Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
- Set the Width and Precision accordingly.
- Click "Next" at the bottom of the window.
- Enter a name for this field. (This will be the name of the column that is displayed in the report and in the Empower Peaks table within Review.)
- Process any data that will need this value displayed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This article explains how to create the custom field, but bear in mind that you must be using a Sample Weight in the Sample Set for the unknown samples.
