Empower: Maurice Status - Communication with the instrument failed; Run aborted instrument already in use - WKB295959

SYMPTOMS

• Unable to launch an analysis with a Maurice instrument
• Control panel: Maurice Status - Communication with the instrument failed
• Message center: Run aborted - Instrument already in use / Maurice#xxxxx Instrument currently in use
• Reboot of the Maurice and the LAC/E does not fix the issue

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise
• Maurice driver from proteinsimple

CAUSE

Unknown

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Install the BioTechne software (Compass for iCE).

2. Using this software, clear the connection error.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In the specific case that prompted this article, a cartridge purge (mandatory after disconnection) was done using Compass for iCE.
The instrument was then disconnected from Compass and reconnected to Empower without further problems.
(Normally, cartridge purge can be done under Empower, but not in this case related to disconnection.)
