ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Empower 3.8.1 Installation, Configuration, and Upgrade Guide (ICUG) contains an error in the DCOM settings and permissions set during installation table in sections 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9.

The path is Component Services > Computers > My
Computer > DCOM Config > WatersService >Properties > Security.

The Empower 3.8.1 ICUG currently states:

Under Launch and Activation Permissions,
set Local Launch, Local Activation, and
Remote Activation Permissions for:
• Everyone
• System
• Administrators
• Interactive
• Domain Users

 

The Empower 3.8.1 ICUG should state (because this is what the Empower installer sets):

Under Launch and Activation Permissions,
set Local Launch, Local Activation, Remote Launch, and
Remote Activation Permissions for:
• Everyone
• System
• Administrators
• Interactive
• Domain Users

 

Additionally, there are inconsistencies in the path: Component Services > Computers > My
Computer > DCOM Config > WatersService > Properties > Security

The Empower 3.8.1 ICUG states:

Under Access Permissions, set Local
Access and Remote Access Permissions
for:
• Everyone
• SELF
• System
• Administrators
• Domain Users

 

What is actually set by the Empower 3.8.1 installer is:

Under Access Permissions, set Local
Access and Remote Access Permissions
for:
• SELF
• System
• Administrators

***It is necessary to manually add the Everyone group.
