Recovered injections and sample sets show corrupted timestamps in Empower with ORA-01877 - WKB294618

SYMPTOMS

• Recovered injections have corrupted timestamps
• Associated sample set finished timestamp may also be corrupted
• Oracle Error "ORA-01877: string is too long for internal buffer" is recorded in the Empower Message Center
   
• 

ENVIRONMENT

• Linux Empower database
• Timezone files of clients match the database server

CAUSE

This problem is likely due to intermittent network issues that occur when the time is being written – especially during recovery from buffering.

FIX or WORKAROUND

None. The timezone is corrupted and cannot be changed or updated.
