It is not required, but it is highly recommended that you perform regular project backups even if the database is backed up routinely.

If old data needs to be accessed after a project has been deleted from Empower, the project backup folder can be very easily and quickly restored. If there is no backup of the project and the project was deleted, the entire database needs to be restored to access old data, which is a very long process. Because of this, Waters recommends performing routine individual project backups.
