SYMPTOMS

• Inject Samples runs for indefinite run time with Agilent GC; an Instrument Failure error shows in Empower
• End of run wait timed out; no reply from the GC#xxxxx.
• The sample set contains equilibrate followed by the Inject samples function
• The control panel shows the run time as 999.9 minutes while running the equilibrate function
• The first injection after the equilibrate function shows the run time as 999.9 minutes and does not move to the next injection

ENVIRONMENT

• Agilent 7890B
• Agilent 8890
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework
• Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

Firmware issue

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Update the 7890B firmware to 7890B.02.06.1. (Download it from the Agilent website.)
2. Update the 8890 firmware to 2.8.1.6. (Download it from the Agilent website.)
3. Or, do not use the equilibrate function if the firmware has not been updated.
