Empower "Connection to chromatography system lost"; acquisition stops; LAC/E reboots due to Windows update - WKB282925

SYMPTOMS

• Error message "Connection to chromatography system lost" appears in the message center
• Acquisition stops
• In Windows System Event viewer, User32 Information / Event ID 1074:
  The process C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe (name of the LAC/E) has initiated the restart of computer name of the LAC/E on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Operating System: Service pack (Planned)
   Reason Code: 0x80020010
   Shutdown Type: restart
• In recover.log file: Started Recover Log
   

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3
• Empower Enterprise
• Empower Workgroup
• LAC/E

CAUSE

A reboot of Windows on the LAC/E was initiated by automatic Windows update.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Turn off Windows Automatic Update.
