Empower error "It is illegal to call out while inside message filter" - WKB275249

SYMPTOMS

• System loses communications intermittently
• Displays "It is illegal to call out while inside message filter" error in Run Samples
• Requires LAC/E reboot to regain communications with instruments

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower Enterprise
• Empower Workgroup
• QDa

CAUSE

User Account Control is set to "Always Notify".

FIX or WORKAROUND

Reset User Account Control to "Never Notify" as described in the installation guide.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Some customers have this policy set via group policy. If the error persists after resetting to Never Notify, check to ensure that it has not reverted back to Always Notify. You may need to work with customer IT or cybersecurity department to ensure that the setting does not revert.
