Empower timestamps are off by one hour when using Node Time Zones for Mexico - WKB259868
SYMPTOMS
- Timestamps in Empower may be off by one hour when Empower Nodes are assigned Node Time Zone values for Mexico and cities in Mexico
- Empower Node is assigned one of two known affected time zones; America/Mexico_City and Mexico/General are known to be affected
- Other time zones may be affected
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower
CAUSE
As of October 30, 2022, Mexico no longer observes Daylight Savings Time changes. Empower is not able to accommodate this change because timezone files in the Oracle database are outdated.
FIX or WORKAROUND
Customers can select alternative Node Time Zone assignments, such as ETC/GMT+6 or UCT. Setting the Node Time Zone to UCT will display time as Universal Coordinated time. Therefore, the time of day will not be the same as the current time in the region of Mexico. Setting the Node Time Zone to ETC/GMT+6 will display the time as the current time in the region of Mexico.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Customers are advised to test to confirm that the selected Node Time Zone assignment addresses the change to their satisfaction.
