"Instrument Failure - failed at end of run" in Empower message center - WKB241411

SYMPTOMS

• A running sample set is interrupted with "Instrument failure" in the Run Sample window and the following message in the Empower message center: "Instrument Failure - Wxxxx-xxxxxxxxx failed at end of run"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

• Possibly traffic congestion on an Instrument LAN bridge, or
• The cable for communication with instrument modules is not properly shielded, or
• Improper ground-to-neutral voltage (applicable only in certain regions)
• 5V on low power supply

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Remove the instrument LAN bridge and use an external switch to connect the instrument modules. 
2. Use a properly shielded CAT 6 cable for better communication.
3. Ensure that the ground-to-neutral voltage is less than 2 V.
4. Adjust 5V on low power supply to 5.2V on R-43
