Agilent LC instrument modules are unavailable (dimmed) in Empower when the Agilent Instant Pilot is removed - WKB225910

SYMPTOMS

• Only the module connected to the LAC/E is visible when no Instant Pilot/Gameboy is connected
• All modules are visible only when the Instant Pilot/Gameboy is attached

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower
• Agilent Instant Pilot (Gameboy)

CAUSE

Several issues found with several Agilent systems

• Agilent Instant Pilots were not used with third-party compatibility mode enabled, causing modules to go into Resident Mode
• An extension was added to allow Instant Pilot to be unplugged easily; this left an open connection on the CAN
• Firmware required cleanup using Agilent LabAdvisor on the module where Instant Pilot was connected

FIX or WORKAROUND

• Waters advises not to use the Agilent Instant Pilot.
• When used, the Instant Pilot must use third-party compatibility mode. - WKB17760
• Do not use any type of extension cable to connect the Agilent Instant Pilot.
• Use Agilent LabAdvisor to perform maintenance functions and FW updates.
