"The instrument event status feed is inactive. Disconnect and reconnect the data system to recover" in Empower Message Center and Acquisition Logs - WKB221242

SYMPTOMS

• Acquisition log records the error message "Event: Instrument Ag GC#X_XX_YY: The instrument event status feed is inactive. Disconnect and reconnect
  the data system to recover."  multiple times.
•  Empower Message Center records the error message "Fatal: The instrument status event feed is inactive. Disconnect and reconnect the data system to recover.
   Information: The instrument status event feed is active." multiple times.
• Sample set interrupted in middle of the sequence.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 
• Agilent GC with HS.
• Agilent ICF 3.5/3.5.1/3.6

CAUSE

1. When the sample set is idle, turn off HS and turn it on in few seconds (10 - 12 seconds). After this ICF driver sends a fatal information message every second. Since driver sends fatal messages, it is printed to the message center and acquisition logs.
2. When there is a network disconnection between HS and Empower due to any issue. This message starts appearing in message center and sample set gets interrupted.

FIX or WORKAROUND

This behavior is recorded as CRI-4021. The problem is resolved in Agilent ICF Support Layer 3.7. Refer Page No: 11.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

As per information provided by Agilent, CRI-2365 is linked with fixed done for CRI-4021. So, recommend customers update to ICF 3.7 to fix the errors below.

• HS disconnected in middle of the sequence and connected back in few seconds gap.
• Connection found in pre-run state. Runs cannot be started until GC/ALS is idle.

Also, in a few incidents Empower gives stop command to Agilent drivers but the system is not stopped and run continued by making the system ready for next injection. This behavior was also fixed in ICF 3.7.
