Questions about various Empower 3 privileges - WKB179287

Article number: 179287

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3 SR3 and above

ANSWER

■ When not using the MVM option or MS detector, will changing settings for the Method Validation Manager (MVM)-related privileges such as "Delete Validation Studies” and MS detector-related privileges such as “Delete Tune Methods” have any effect?
→ When the optional software is not installed, there is no effect of ON/OFF, but it will be reflected in the user who was licensed when implemented.

■ What is the difference between "Run Empower SQT" in Empower 3 and "Run Empower AQT" in Empower 2?
→ Both are privileges related to the execution of qualification that is automatically executed by Empower.
Check the KCS article below for detailed differences.
Briefly, tests that were called AQT in Empower 2 are now called SQT in Empower 3.

■ About the "Delete eCord Columns" privilege: What exactly disappears when an eCord column is deleted?
→ The eCord history of the used column is saved in the tree on the left-hand side of the Configure System screen.
This is the privilege to delete this history.
Even if it is deleted from the Configure System screen, the eCord incidental information linked to the data
(sample set, injection, channel, result set, result) will not be deleted.
Also, instrument methods and chromatogram data will not be deleted.

■ About "Lock Methods" and "Delete eCord Columns": "Unlock Methods" doesn't exist in Empower 2.
Does that mean that if a method was locked, it could never be unlocked in Empower 2?
→ Yes.

■ What is the privilege of "Modify Backup Options"?
→ It’s the privilege to modify the Configure System > View > Backup Options.
At the end of the backup on the Project Backup Wizard screen, there is a “Start Backup Options” button,
which is a backup utility tool for backing up to external media, running the backup program from Empower software.
This is used to modify this option.

■ The privileges of "Create System", "Alter System", "Delete System", "Bring System Online", "Take System Offline", "Create Node", "Alter Node", and "Delete Node" are added since SR3, but how did earlier versions manage these operations?
→ Versions prior to SR3 did not yet have these privileges, so any user type could perform these operations.

■ What is the privilege of "Manage Process Only Sample Set"?
→ This is the privilege to create and edit a processing-only sample set.
A processing-only sample set can combine injections and channel data from different sample sets into one processing-only sample set.

■ Is the Empower 3 "Access Real Time Plot from Walk-Up" the same as Empower 2's "Access Real Time Plot from Open Access"?
→ Yes. The name of the Open Access interface has been changed to "Walk-Up".
This privilege allows you to view a real-time plot of the data being run when using Empower with the Walk-Up interface.
