ZQ "Instrument Failure" error in Empower - WKB1681

SYMPTOMS

• "Instrument Failure" error in Empower
• ZQ is communicating outside of Empower; it can be pinged, and the EPC can be rebooted via telnet
• The ZQ says YES on the Instruments tab in Empower Node Properties
• The ZQ yields the error messages in Run Samples when trying to connect to the system
• The tune page opens but no parameters can be changed
• A system without the ZQ works fine
• New system with ZQ shows "Function 1 is uncalibrated" error in the message center
• Default calibration loaded on the tune page

ENVIRONMENT

• ZQ 2000
• Empower 3

CAUSE

• Corrupted system
•  The calibration file for the ZQ was not loaded

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Create a new system.
2. Open up the Tune page for the ZQ.
3. Go to Calibration > Calibrate Instrument.
4. Go to File > Open and choose your calibration file.
5. Go to Run Samples and monitor your system.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Calibration files are not stored as flat files in Empower; they are stored in the Oracle database as MS Tune and MS Calibration methods in the project.
