Missing method versions in Empower Report Publisher - WKB16565

Article number: 16565

SYMPTOMS

  • Missing method versions under Revision History of a report for a sample set or result set

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 2
  • Empower 3
  • Report Method
  • Revision History

CAUSE

This is expected behavior in Empower.
The method history structure is not linear; it is a branch. Gaps will be seen if a user bases the new version of a
method on an older version instead of the current version.

FIX or WORKAROUND

This is not a defect.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Example:

  • A sample set is acquired using version 2 of a sample set method.
  • The sample set completes.
  • The sample set method is edited, not by using Alter Sample but by editing the method, creating version 3 of the method.
  • The sample set that was acquired is taken into Alter Sample, some changes are made, and version 4 of the method is saved.
  • When this sample set or an associated result set is reported, the sample set method report group shows versions 1, 2, and 4 in the Revision History, but the Method Version Summaries table shows all method versions. This is because version 3 was never associated with the sample set.
