How to restore old Empower 2 projects when getting the error "Database Schema Checksum failed! File:xxxx_EXP.CKS has been corrupted. Project cannot be restored" - WKB14649

SYMPTOMS

• Error message: "Database Schema Checksum failed! File:xxxx_EXP.CKS has been corrupted. Project cannot be restored."
• Backup log and project integrity logs report no errors

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 2 
• Empower 3

CAUSE

Unknown

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Make copy of the backup that's not working IF you can't do another project backup. 
2. Take the copy project and remove the EXP.CKS file from the project backup and restore the project without it. 
3. If you can now successfully restore it then backup the project again after restoring it to get a new EXP.CKS file into the project backup.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Additional option:

Try the same steps if you get INF.CKS file error except remove the INF.CKS file instead of EXP.CKS file
