The following applies to Empower accounts that are "local", as opposed to LDAP. (LDAP-based Empower user accounts are managed in the Directory environment.)

If the System Policy "Enforce Unique User Passwords" selection is clear, Empower does not maintain a history of previously used passwords for a given user account.

If the System Policy "Enforce Unique User Passwords" is selected, Empower maintains a history of previously used passwords for a given user account. Previously used passwords may never be reused.

To check this setting:

1. In Empower, click on Configure System.
2. In Configuration Manager , click on View.
3. Click on System Policies (see the screen shot attached below).
