Cannot restore projects in Empower due to special characters in the project names - WKB125250

SYMPTOMS

• Unable to restore Empower projects with certain special characters in the project folder name.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 through Empower 3 Feature Release 5

Unsupported special characters in project names

FIX or WORKAROUND

Remove the special characters from source project folder names.

There is a behavioral change as of Empower 3 SR4

The Empower 3 SR4 Release Note indicate:

Project directory names exclude special characters for the New, Clone, and Restore project actions, when you include special characters in the new project name, Empower creates a directory with a name that excludes the special characters. If a project exists with the resulting name, Empower appends _x to the project name, where x is a numeric value, starting with 0. If the project name contains all special characters, or a combination of special characters and underscore, Empower replaces the name with W_xxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxxx is a hexadecimal value, starting with 00000000. Empower increments the value with each new project. Note: Accepted characters are A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and underscore. All other characters are special characters.
