Shortened chromatogram, detector spikes (10^38), or "server busy" errors when using Agilent LC with ICF 2.2 - WKB11225

Article number: 11225

SYMPTOMS

You may see the following symptoms when running an Agilent LC in Empower with ICF 2.2:

  • Shortened chromatograms
  • Spikes up to 10^38 in channel data
  • "Server Busy" error message
  • AgilentPlugInServer*32 showing a high CPU value in Task Manager

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3
  • Agilent ICF Support v2.2 with A.02.03 DU2 or Agilent ICF Support v2.2 with A.02.04

CAUSE

When an injection is made and no channel is collected, the next injections can have this issue. This is typically seen when you run column washes or shutdown methods at the end of a run.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Perform one or more of these steps as a workaround or update for ICF 3.0:

  1. Ensure that all instrument methods in use have a collected channel (data channel).
  2. To ensure that this issue does not persist, use the Shutdown after Run or Selective Shutdown options in the General method of the instrument method.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Reference PCS#54419 at http://www.waters.com/waters/support...1442&type=DFCT.

  • Shutdown methods must have a channel
  • "Data channel" must be a detector channel; just Aux channel won't work
  • Select the box for " UV Lamp" (see screen shot below)
