Agilent ICF-Unknown channels acquired with Agilent GC 7890/8890 - WKB110593

Article number: 110593

SYMPTOMS

  • Unknown channels acquired with Agilent GC followed by Instrument Failure.
  • Review shows "Data Missing" or "No Data Acquired"

ENVIRONMENT

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 7
  • GC8890
  • GC7890
  • Agilent ICF SL 3.6 and earlier versions

CAUSE

  • Methods created with older firmware versions when used with newer versions of firmware.
  • Changing the GC configuration multiple times using the Agilent PreConfiguration utility
  • Deleting the system and recreating the system after changing and configuring the system with the PreConfiguration utility

FIX or WORKAROUND

Create a new method but do not attempt method resolution by editing an existing method when there is a GC configuration change.

                        (OR)

Set the first signal as 'None' and select detector signal(s) in 2 and subsequent locations for the methods created with older Firmware Versions.

                        (OR)

Before starting the sample set, click on Monitor to monitor the system. If multiple channels show in the chromatogram window, create a new method again and repeat this step until only one channel is acquired.

                        (OR)

Use the 'Agilent Preconfiguration guide' attached to delete the system off Empower and Preconfiguration utility. Rename the instrsrv.dat file. Hard reboot and recreate the system.
