Empower 3 channels show wrong time recorded on server - WKB109460

SYMPTOMS

• In an Empower 3 Enterprise environment, some injections are acquired at one time, but channels show a different time in the project.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

The channels time stamp is done by the server, unless there is a buffering situation, in which case the time is set by the acquisition node.
In this particular case, there is no buffering, so the time stamp is done by the server.
The server is a virtual machine, and during the snapshot of the machine, the operating system is synchronized with the VMWare host server.
The host server had an incorrect time set, causing a time shift in the Empower server and incorrect time stamps on channels.
After the snapshot, the time shifted again to the correct one (Active Directory time synchronization).

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Ensure that no buffering situation is involved (see article 1458).
2. Inspect the event viewer in the server for time shifts.
3. Correct the time in the host server of the virtual machines, or disable time synchronization between VMWare Server and the host servers.
