It is OK to backflush an ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 column. 

When backflushing:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        - -    - 1.   - Disconnect the guard column if you are using one. 

- Disconnect the column and install it in the reverse direction. 

- Do not connect the column to your detector.

- Flow to waste.

- Set the flow rate to 0.1mL/min for 2.1-mm ID columns or 0.3mL/min for 3.0-mm ID columns.
