Obtain Instrument Control Licenses for grandfathered instruments in an Empower 3.7.0 (or later) installation.

PROCEDURE

With the release of Empower 3.7.0, Waters has implemented comprehensive license control capabilities for instruments that connect to Empower. These license controls will ensure that third-party Instruments are properly licensed before the system is available for control within the Empower software. 

If you previously purchased an instrument control license directly from Waters or through a partner, you can leverage the existing license serial numbers delivered with the license to support the license activation process. 

If you previously purchased an instrument control license directly from Waters or through a partner and you are not able to locate this license, contact the appropriate Waters representative to secure the correct Instrument Control Licenses. You will need to provide proof of purchase.

Empower customers who purchased an instrument prior to the grandfathered-in date (see below) are eligible for a “No Charge” Instrument Control License upgrade. 

To secure this “No Charge” Instrument Control License, a scanned copy of "Proof of Purchase and Installation" documents provided by the partner along with relevant serial numbers are required to be submitted to Waters.  

There are three acceptable "Proof of Purchase and Installation" documents to use as verification.  

1. Installation Qualification Report – If qualification was performed for your third-party system or systems, supply a scanned copy of your signed and dated Installation Qualification Report(s). 

2. Verification Test Report – If a verification test was performed on your third-party system or systems, supply a scanned copy of your Verification Test Report(s). 

3. Customer Purchase Order - If you cannot supply your Installation Qualification Report(s) or Verification Test Report(s), a scanned copy of the original Purchase Order(s) for the associated instrument purchase may be supplied.

Provide the required documentation to your appropriate Waters representative to ensure that the appropriate Instrument Connection Licenses are provided prior to deploying Empower 3.7.0 (minimum) in your facility.
