HDX and M-Class uBSM gradient does not start - WKB10170

SYMPTOMS

• When starting the LC, the HDX gradient remains at initial conditions and does not start
• When starting the LC, the M-Class injection completes but the gradient remains at initial conditions
• Gradient starts running for about five seconds but then returns to initial conditions
• The gradient flows successfully via a run gradient (no injection) start.

ENVIRONMENT

• HDX and HDX2 System
• nanoACQUITY UPLC
• ACQUITY UPLC BSM
• M-Class Binary Solvent Manager (uBSM)

CAUSE

Inlet configuration contact closure is set to trigger by the software.

FIX or WORKAROUND

When configuring the inlet,ensure that the detector is set to trigger on contact closure for both the pump and the detector.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Some users have noted that a software contact closure worked for many months on the M-Class. Please use the  "trigger on contact closure" for long term stability even through there is no classic contact closure cable required on the M-Class.
