OBJECTIVE or GOAL

To correctly position the collector slit position when tuning the AutoSpec.

ENVIRONMENT

• AutoSpec Premier (P)
• AutoSpec Ultima (M)

PROCEDURE

1. Obtain a square-topped peak and adjust Peak Display so that the peak top is at 100%.

2. Close collector slit without reducing the intensity below the 75% threshold line.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1. Over-closing the collector slit can adversely affect the instrument's sensitivity (particularly at resolutions >5000).

2. Can mask other AutoSpec tuning problems.
